Keywords: karate, physical development, psychological development, personality, martial arts, self-control, stress resistance.
In modern conditions of increasing psycho-emotional stress and decreasing the level of motor activity, the search for effective means of harmonious development of the personality becomes particularly relevant. One of such means is karate, which combines physical training, self-discipline and the philosophy of self-improvement. The purpose of the article is to analyze karate as a means of physical and psychological development of the personality, as well as to identify problems and prospects for further research in this area.
The study is based on the analysis and generalization of scientific sources on the issues of physical education, sports psychology and martial arts. The methods of theoretical analysis, comparison, systematization of scientific approaches of domestic and foreign scientists on the influence of karate on personality development are used.
It has been established that systematic karate classes contribute to the comprehensive development of physical qualities (strength, speed, endurance, flexibility and coordination), improve the functional state of the body and strengthen health. A significant positive effect of karate on the psychological sphere has been revealed, in particular on the formation of self-control, stress resistance, concentration and self-confidence. It has been proven that karate also plays an important role in the formation of moral and volitional qualities, such as discipline, responsibility and perseverance. At the same time, a number of contradictions have been identified in modern research related to the combination of the combat and educational aspects of karate.
Karate is an effective means of comprehensive personality development, combining physical, psychological and spiritual components. It can be considered as a promising direction in the system of physical education and a means of improving mental health. Further research should be aimed at developing scientifically based programs for the use of karate and in-depth study of its impact on personality.
